I suspect that the issue is that even if they can make it a few more months, they likely wont be back to business for real for at least a year. There's no real benefit to hanging on longer if they can't last until there is a vaccine and the world fully reopens. Hanging on until the last dime would also mean that they wouldn't have money to reimburse families, which will leave a sour taste in everyone's mouth. If they do give refunds now they may be able to start anew post-pandemic with community support.
