It certainly gets trickier with different HS seasons between MD and VA.

ECNL became a very pro HS Soccer league when it suited them and it will find it hard to back out now over Division realignment issues. So the only real way for MD and VA to play against each other is during the winter, when kids are also likely playing HS winter sports.

They could have solved this by adding the DA clubs in the area, but ECNL is gonna ECNL

Not all ECNL teams are doing HS soccer. NC Courage and CSA are on a 10-month training schedule, HS soccer not allowed per directors.....will find outside-the-conference games or friendlies to play during Spring.

We are talking about local clubs not NC.

NC HS seasons align with VA that is why the conference is aligned the way it is.

People if you don’t want to travel then why do you sign for travel teams? What is what you sort of get from traveling to play a team from SC? It is sort of stupid when you don’t want to travel and yet sign your DC I n a travel team.

High schools in NC also play on a different schedule than VA, so it isn't much of a difference for VA teams to play ones in MD (other than less travel to get to MD, which is a win!).

For 20/21 I don't think getting to 20 games is necessarily a goal at this point. College conferences are reducing schedules, and I would expect ECNL to follow suit. Schedules will be unbalanced to minimize travel, and that will produce some inequities in the standings. VA teams may play each other 3 or 4 times, and NC/SC teams once or twice. 20/21 will be a one-off year and the landscape will change again in 21/22. Not sure about VA/MD games.

Fully expect NC Courage and Charlotte Soccer Academy to be top 3 in standings in every girls age group. But if they do North/South divisions as expected then we'll not ever get a true assessment of ECNL MA overall. Hearing NC Courage will be in "North Division" with VA teams.

NC Courage and NCFC are both NCFC. NC Courage is 1st team, NCFC is second team.

Arlington's coaches mentioned that the league is allowing teams to play other ECNL clubs not in the division, so Arlington will play up in Baltimore as an option this year. Assuming they play at all.

Both new teams were generally in the top half across all age groups in SE conference of GDA, with NC Courage being the stronger of the two. Barring any major roster movements, I would expect they will both be very competitive in ECNL MA.

I don't have an any concrete info, but I don't expect ECNL to split the MA conference north/south this year per se. I think we will see an unbalanced schedule this year to ease travel/COVID issues, with VA teams playing each other more, and NC/SC teams doing the same. Once we get past this COVID business, I would expect the normal conference schedule to occur. Even with ECNL's additions to groups teams more regionally, the MA conference is still one of the most tightly grouped conferences geographically.

Next year is another thing entirely, who knows what could happen then. ECNL will no doubt expand again next year.

I think question was about boys. VDA and Arlington.

I should have clarified but it was definitely about girls. That being said, I would love to hear about boys.
