My DD started EPF when it opened in March. She has been taking her time, following the schedule and learning the material. (She has the free time!)

You could 100% do this class quickly and “pass”. However, you would be cheating your child of the opportunity to actually learn the material. It’s a decent class and covers the basics of micro/macro the first half and life skills the second half. These are all life skills we have discussed around the dinner table, but it’s always good to drive home the importance of smart spending, how to protect yourself with insurance, and the stock market.

The self-directed option has been fine. If your child would enjoy the “live” class, that would be fine as well. I wouldn’t make any snap judgements about their motivation overall if they have a preference for a live vs self-directed class. This is a rough time and these kids are all doing the best that they can.

No. She misses nothing in GPA by finishing self paced. It’s P/F. Doesn’t affect GPA. Teacher directed isn’t an honors class, so wouldn’t get a GPA hump. I can’t see a single advantage to changing. And it has the downside of having to restart and go at the teachers pace and dial in every day to pass. Why would you do that unless you kid was unable to self pace because of poor EF or similar issues? And if a kid can’t self pace EPF and be done in a week or two, good luck surviving TJ.

What is the difference between self directed EPF over teacher led EPF for TJ rising 9th graders? My kid started doing the self directed EPF in spring hoping to finish it fast and do some summer course in June but with the updates now that teacher led EPF is one of the only options to do in June, will she be missing anything on the GPA by having completed self directed EPF? Should we consider switching to the teacher led course if that is even an option?
