I'm confused as to how this will work - how do they enforce this? Via rental agencies?

OP here. We rented a house on a lake in a really secluded area. But we'd like to be able to go hiking in Acadia too.

Honestly, I think we will go anyway. We'll bring food, get some groceries delivered, spend most of our time at the lake house but occasionally go into Acadia National Park.

I doubt anyone will notice or care.

Yes, if we just stay at the lake house and have food delivered is it ok to go?

Can we fish on property?

I'm pretty sure Maine would survive a 10% reduction in the tourism industry. I mean, you said it would only decimate it. It's not like it would be a catastrophe. Decimate means a 10% reduction.

If they require a 14 day quarantine, why do you assume it would only be a 10% reduction in tourism?

Almost everyone takes trips no longer than two weeks, meaning you would spend your whole trip in quarantine. Why sign up for that when other areas don’t have such stringent requirements?

I wouldn’t be so confident that economic considerations will win out over public safety concerns.

Shrug. The governor's office indicated that they are willing to work on this and come to some sort of compromise. It's of no concern to me because we have our own house there and can quarantine for the required 2 weeks. But I will be seriously shocked if the state decides to kill it's own foremost industry like this.

"What is the progress of the tourism industry’s discussions with the Mills administration on the 14-day quarantine for visitors from outside of Maine?

They seem to be making progress. HospitalityMaine, an advocacy group for hotels and restaurants that has hammered the requirement, has edged off the criticism a bit in recent days after it teased last week the Mills administration was considering shortening phases in its plan, which keeps hotels and restaurants limited into the summer.

Mills said at a news conference on Wednesday that announcements on relaxing restrictions could come this week. On Wednesday, HospitalityMaine said there are “significant discussions within the administration on how to protect Mainers” in ways other than the quarantine."

Why do so many articles say it ends on July 1 then?

As of now it goes through the end of August. But the economic devastation would be severe so many, many people in Maine are looking for other solutions.

Does the quarantine rule end on July 1 or goes until end of August?

So I’ve read that right now the governor requires visitors to quarantine for 2 weeks before going out. Some say this goes until August (?) or is it just that it might be extended to August?

But then a bunch of articles say this ends July 1. So has anyone here spoke to someone in the industry who knows what’s up?
