Should we get a pool for the lawn? I hate them: emptying them out, they ruin the grass, and I can see it becoming a messy mud pit (3 and 5 year old boys).

But...it's only chance for a "pool"....?

What say you, DCUM?

I can only go by what you've stated in your post. You hate pools on the lawn for a variety of legit reasons. I vote no to the pool. Easy.

Why would you get one if you hate them?

Read the thread. Sounds like a some options on why I should.

I have a 3 and 5 year old. A small pool is good. It doesn't need to submerge them, they just play in it. Big buckets would serve the purpose too. Then, a sprinkler or a hose with some fun settings.

You've got to remember the water is COLD. So unless you're setting it up and leaving to warm for a hours or days, no one wants to get into a big pool of freezing water! Also: bacteria.

Its not just the purchase. Its the maintenance. Need a circ pump and testing for water to keep it nice.

We have an inflatable jumpoline style water park for our 3 year old. It’s big, but collapses after use. It only holds a few inches of water, enough to splash around in.. but has a slide, climbing wall, and squirt cannon. Bonus is it can be used as a play structure dry as well.

Get the pool. We've currently got a bounce house up and will get a pool, too. The yard will recover and the kids will get the exercise and outdoor time they need.

This.

Mine is coming today. Got an alert at 1 am that it was back in stock and ordered it right away. Yes it will be tacky, but I don’t care. I’m putting it in the driveway. I also have boys.

Only if you will watch them when they are outside with it. All. The. Time. If one trips on muddy ground next to the pool and ends up face down in the water, your family could be facing a tragedy.

Go for a sprinkler instead...

I think 3 and 5 could still enjoy a play pool. You'll have to get a big one. You could also do a slip and slide.

Too old for a pool? https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Swim-Center-Family-Inflatable/dp/B000058TJ3/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=play+pool&qid=1589464682&sr=8-10

But a sprinkler will do?
