There is a lot evidence that they can transmit without symptoms- that's the entire problem with this disease. Otherwise we could just isolate people with fevers and coughs and be done with it.

There are lots of things we don't know. Hopefully it turns out that asymptomatic people don't transmit, but other viruses are transmitted asymptomatically and presymptomatically, so it makes sense to take precautions.

We do know that the super spreader at the choir practice in WA was not reporting symptoms at that time.
