Kishan is great. He's shown a lot of hustle on the Georgetown-Burleith ANC. He was previously an ANC member in Dupont Circle. He's always been super responsive whenever I've emailed him or brought up concerns to him in person. And always followed up when I had issues with DC agencies. He's a solid guy and I will be voting for him.

Then by that standard, no one would be able to put litter in a public trash can. Because all the trash you have in your possession is your “personal” trash, so are we supposed to carry it all the way home? As opposed to placing it in a city trash can right there on the sidewalk?

What’s the point of public trash cans then?

What Jack did is very much illegal. DC DPW will fine you if you dump a bag of household trash in a public litter can. If they find anything with your address on it, you will be fined. There are plenty of examples on PoPville of this happening.

Can you not tell the difference between a single candy wrapper or something you generate while out vs. a bag of trash you generate in your home and dump in a public site?

Here's a similar example: it's fine to use a paper towel in the grocery store restroom after washing your hands. It is not fine to pull 100 paper towels out of the grocery store restroom and take them home so you don't have to buy any.

I’ll bet the trash-sifter left all the trash right there on the sidewalk after he was done snooping through it.

Trash, rooting through trash.

+1. A new low.

I don't like Jack Evans at all and think he needs to fade into the sunset, but C'MON this is ridiculous that not only did someone follow him but wrote an article about it. Jack Evans has enough flaws without resorting to criticizing him for mundane stuff like this

That. Is. Brilliant.

Apparently Jack Evans not only parks wherever he wants, but he dumps his trash wherever too.
