Our weekends pre-quarantine has been what it's like now. We consciously decided to not join the rat race a long time ago
We have 2 teens and are having the best time with our family dinners and sitting in our pajamas all day.
Older kid is scheduled to go to college in the Fall. Things have turned out as best as they could be for her... and we didn't run ourselves ragged.
Younger kid is just is just delightful. Wish his school was doing better to keep him engaged but he's managing.

I’m glad I maintained a good relationship with my ILs despite their boundary issues. Most DCUMers would have cut them off by now. They came to us as soon as states started talking about stay-at-home and have been here since. Sometimes it’s annoying to have a crowded house and lack privacy, but the childcare help they are giving us is priceless.

Yes, I have a job that could be at least 80% telework, yet my manager typically will only let us telework one day a week. Will be changing positions if we ever go back to less than 2-3 telework a week. Have gained so much commuting time back.
It confirms our decision to buy an older house with a bit of land in the burbs with a bad school district. It's what we could afford, incredibly peaceful right now, and we have been working on our vegetable garden with those 2 hours we get back everyday.

No, because we didn't live that differently before and chose a lifestyle we liked. Flexibility/telework, SFH with yard close but not in downtown, etc.

The fact that I really miss our old day to day life tells me we were doing something right.
I do regret putting off certain things like learning to ski this past winter and wish we’d visited some out of state family last year when we had the chance.

Yes and no.
I'm a nurse on a Covid floor. Dealing with all of this has made me realize that I don't have the best coping strategies. I compartmentalize everything and push stress away. But it eventually comes out. I also prioritize everyone else before myself, which is something DH has been on me about since we met.
I love my mom but she can be a lot to deal with. My dad has advanced Parkinson's and now with this shutdown, she's completely his sole caretaker. It's made me open my eyes that I need to be there more for them and I need to appreciate her more.

Curious to hear if others are rethinking their lifestyle choices with everything going on right now. We chose to be in the city in a smaller house with limited outdoor space and kids are in private. We were very happy with our life before Covid but really not sure it will be the same ever again or for a long time at least.
Part of me would love to give up the hustle to be somewhere more remote with more space and less pressure overall for both DH and me and the kids.
Anyone else thinking this way?
