I want to make sure these places aren’t heavily policed and the community watch is a real community watch where neighbors watch out for eachother. I’m looking for a forever home. Will checkout these areas.

We currently in Woodley Park and adjusted but not Uber comfortable.

Brightwood/Manor Park are more affordable than Shepard Park but also very diverse. Elementary schools are doing well. Safe and family friendly. Close to lots of amenities.

PP from the post above - I live in Ft Lincoln and although it's not near Metro or a happening neighborhood, you could definitely find a townhouse in your price range. Lots of black families over here.

I see this property but why such poor schools? That would mean I’d have to send DC-5 to private.

Langdon is a 4 star school and scores are not bad. Great Schools scores rarely tell the whole story.

Also, there are several other Ward 5 DCPS and charters nearby (LAMB, Stokes, Burroughs, Lee).

Would you consider MD? There are several neighborhoods in MoCo that I'd consider over anywhere in VA.

Yes I’m just not familiar with MoCo. We’ve been in Dc for 3 years and previously In VA for 3. We both work downtown/west end area.

Share the neighborhoods.

PP here. We live in SP but know professional black families in areas of close-in Silver Spring, including Forest Glen and East Silver Spring near Takoma Park. Others can probably give more details but I think your budget would work there. In general due to politics and diversity I‘d pick any of those close-in, east side of MoCo areas over NoVA (and I’m a VA native).

Ok I’ll take a look now.- op

Given the recent events - what neighborhoods are great for black families AND/or DINKS. Budget is 650. Not interested in Pg county due to schools and policing issues. Not familiar with MOCO. Also would like a healthy amount of diversity as I want my black child to maintain a sense of identity. Hate to ask this question but there it is.
