My husband was giving a seminar today via Webex and a participant started doing her dishes in the middle. Worst part, she left her sound unmuted so you could hear dishes clanging in the bathroom. I think we're all used to the interruptions by now. I just put on tV and my kids are quiet unless something happens to interrupt the netflix connection.

My husband and I are both working from home with three kids age 7, 5, and 2. The toddler has been on quite a few conference calls. There's only so much that can be done when daycares are closed.

It's been like a mildly to moderaly uncomfortable, neverending dream. Lol. So hard to concentrate, as I'm used to my quiet office. Which is while I'm still up wrapping up some work now.

I noticed that even more than kids, I've heard dogs on calls--and then someone says, "Sorry, delivery guy." I was one of those people today (with a zillion deliveries and a large dog who has a booming bark).

No other disturbances. I usually warn kids to be quiet before an important call.

Same. It’s been really difficult to get work done and concentrate but my office has been very understanding.

Np, and completely disagree. In fact, I just did the exact same thing today. I was hosting a webex video for 250 people. I asked my kids to be quiet for the hour so I could lead the call. 5 minutes before the call starts they were being loud in the kitchen. I went out and asked them again. They apologized and went to do their school work. My kids are 7 and 9.

It’s not rude at all to ask people to be quiet at specific times of the day so you can join calls.

Earlier this week during a client video meeting I shot out of my chair and lunged across the room to remove a piece of unidentifiable plastic from my 15 month old's mouth.

It is what it is.

I was on a telemedicine call and saw my doctor’s kids walk through her kitchen and I thought it was actually cool—to see she has the same struggles I do!

That said, headset with microphone will solve a lot of these problems.

Your husband needs to go somewhere away from you and the kids. How big is your house? Have him go to the quietist spot of the house or go to his car and hot spot

DH is a physician who is doing telemedicine calls. There have been a few times where our toddler has had massive crying meltdowns during DH’s telemedicine calls. I’m a SAHM of 3 kids and it is hard enough trying to keep kids quiet and away from DH. The other day I was helping kids with distance learning and the whole house was yelling. I didn’t realize DH was live on video conference. The kids were on opposite ends of the house unable to log on and I was yelling to try to get DH to help us.

I will take the toddler to play outside or read books but it is impossible to keep her quiet for the whole day.

Have you witnessed any really bad home environments?
Is it common to hear and see kids in the background?
