I think it has to be specific to the Cherokee because our Rava is super easy to install in a Forester and an Accord. I move it back and forth all the time.

I am late to the party but having the exact same issue!! Have looked at seat protectors that will make the seat flatter? Has anyone with Rava & Grand Cherokee found a solution??

I am having the exact same issue and I think it is because the seat is too narrow. If you look at the base, the curve of the seat does not allow the Rava to sit flat. That’s the only thing I can think of because that seat belt is TIGHT. It got a little better when I used the latches, but still makes me nervous. PS. It is not advised to use both latch and belt, they want you to use one or the other.

you need to really tighten the belt down, i mean really really tight. It should be so tight that you don't think you'll be able to close the hatch/door on the rava. Then you use your body weight with your foot or knee to lock that door down. It's hard until you've done it a couple of times, and then you get a feeling for how much tension you need on the belt.

I have leather seats and don’t have a problem with that seat. I send the advice to post photos to Car Seats for the Littles.

Do you have leather seats? I am a car seat tech and the hardest installs are leather seats. We use rubber kitchen liner between the seat and car seat to get a good fit. If you do have leather seats try this. You should be able to order online.

You could try emailing Car Seats For the Littles (questions@csftl.org) or message their Facebook page. It is a group of car seat techs. I have had luck fixing the tilting problem by applying pressure to the opposite side of the seat when I close the tension door, but that won't fix the movement issue. They can probably help if you provide pictures and/or video of the issue. They also have a fb group, but there are a ton of members and anyone can comment so I personally prefer the other contact methods.

We tried the seatbelt first, it's rear facing in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The slack was so tight we could barely get the tension door closed. The seat was also tilted at an angle when we tightened the belt. I've watched a bunch of videos and we're really following the directions exactly, not sure what's going on!

Forward or rear facing? I have 2 and haven't had any problems installing in an Odyssey or Subaru Forester.
