Daycare and school are phase 2 in me with accommodations for social distancing requirements
Business as usual school is phase 3
If daycares lose some kids, probably will make it easier for them to do business in Phase 2.

Daycares are in phase 2. It’s in the reopening plan.

Va daycares are allowed and have been allowed to be open for weeks. They are allowed for children of essential workers and pretty much any business outside of recreation can be considered essential.
Many daycares simply don’t want to be open to wipe your kids’ noses right now given we are in a pandemic.

I live in dc but I’d like to enroll in a va or md daycare whenever they open. Assuming dc will be last because we have a maximally stupid/incompetent city government.

our VA daycare (and private school with a k-8 campus and summer camp) said they plan to open mid-June and will start camp on time on 6/15.

A preschool classroom is as high risk as a pediatrician’s office waiting room but without anyone wearing PPE. If they open before the fall, it’s just a calculated risk.

Our VA daycare seems confident they're opening sometime in June.

Va is not necessarily going to phase 1 on the 15th. It’s entirely dependent on having two weeks of a downward trend and we haven’t even had one week yet. Cases are on a sharp incline.
Our va daycare is closed through June 10th under the stay at home order, which is still in place, and due to the requirement that if they open, they have to rearrange their rosters and staff to take new enrollments from essential workers. That isn’t going to change in a week or two.

Totally gut - but my guess at least for my daycare is they would reopen with phase 2. Looking at the guidelines, that's where you can have more than 10 people in a room - which is critical for reopening classrooms at normal capacity. Right now they are saying at least 3 weeks in Phase 1, so as soon as June 5 (obviously barring setbacks and unmanageable spikes)?

Now that VA is going to phase 1 on May 15, what does that mean for daycares and preschools? Are most keeping the mid June date for reopen if they run full year?
