Hi, thanks for the recommendation. WHC is the most convenient location for me (to avoid driving crosstown to GW/Georgetown area) as well. Do you know if they are allowing you to select your doctor at this time?

I was very happy with Foxhall OBGYN Associates. Delivered twice at Sibley, very positive experience.

I’m happy at WHC as well and agree that proximity matters a lot.

I far prefer a solo provider to the large OB practices. And I’ve been to most of them. GW OBs, GW Midwives, Capital Women’s Care, and WHC. I’d do Foxhall or a solo OB at Sibley if you have the choice.

I have experience with Medstar OBs and GW OBs. Highly recommend GW OBs. Specific drs I have liked include Valentine, Jamshidi, and Lesko (although everyone has been great and you can't pick a specific one right now due to COVID stuff.) They are attentive but relaxed / not alarmist and I have found it very easy to deal with them in terms of scheduling, reaching a nurse on the nurse's line, etc.

Really liked Bloom in Tenleytown. Delivered at Sibley.

GW, WHC, and Georgetown have their own affiliated practices and no private practices deliver at those hospitals (except in serious emergencies). The private practices (Bloom, CWC, Foxhall, RHJN) deliver at Sibley. In all cases, you deliver with whoever is on call at that time.

There are a handful of solo practice docs in the area; again, they deliver at Sibley, unless it is an emergency that Sibley can't handle.

What are the things that are important to you? Is it being at a small or solo practice? A hospital with the highest level NICU? A place that sees a lot of unmedicated births? A smaller L&D unit? A practice that won't give you push back if you want a c-section no matter what?

Once you figure out what's important, that will go a long way towards narrowing it down.

I also highly recommend GW OBs. I delivered my first with them and am about to deliver my second. They have always been respectful and understanding of my birth plans and have been great at answering questions and taking time needed.

I have been going to Capital Women's Care on K St (deliver at Sibley) since I was 22. Have cycled through a few doctors there and just switched to Dr. O'Brien when I got pregnant. Have always been happy with my care & the office in general.

GW’s OB group is excellent. Right now you can’t choose a specific provider because of covid but I’ve been happy with them as a group

I'm not quite sure what to look for, but I am looking for a traditional practice (not midwives). I would appreciate any recent recommendations anyone have!
