1.) you never really thought of yourself as a big person, so your outward appearance is more in line with how you’ve always pictured yourself.
2.) you don’t see your butt in the mirror as well as your husband can see it.

I've also lost a lot of weight. Make side by side photo comparison using one of the picture apps. You can really see the difference in photos. Much harder to tell when looking in the mirror.

Tik Tok has a really cool morphing feature where you can literally see your body shrink. Yes, TikTok is for the youngins, but download it just to try this!

Keep going.

You are the same person. You improve your weight but not your inner perception. It probably took years for your to change your behaviors and your perception. It might take years to start thinking differently. Our brain is trained to think a certain way, to fire same synopses when we see something. When your brain sees you, it tell you what it knows. It will take time.

Body dysmorphia. You didn't see yourself clearly when you were bigger and you still don't now that you're smaller.

Because you saw the same you in the mirror each day.

I lost a lot of weight before my wedding and even though I fit in smaller clothes, I didn’t “see” myself as thin as I was. Now I’ve gained a lot back and look back and think—what an idiot I was to not enjoy it! So try and adjust your mindset, appreciate yourself and your body; your hard work and your smile.

It takes a long time for your mental image to shift. I lost 100 pounds and it took me forever to not think of myself as a fat person. Now 15 years and two kids later, I have put about half of it back on, and I still surprise myself in the other direction. Learn to say “thank you” to a compliment and move on.

I lost about 45 pounds and although I went down many clothing sizes, I still feel the same. I think it's because my overall body shape didn't change. I still feel like my hips are too big and they probably always will be in relation to my waist. I notice the weight loss most in my face. Also, a lifetime of food/body issues.

5’9”, was 206, now 166. I’m down 2 pant sizes, a shirt size, and 40lb. I know I look different, but I don’t really see it in the mirror. My husband tells me I look totally different, but when I see old pictures and then look in the mirror, I look the same (to me). Why?
