So if not locked, then not much you can do?

My teens found this out the almost-hard way today. Park Police almost cited them for playing tennis. Rules are rules, I suppose, but the kids just needed to get out of the house and hit some things.

I may have witnessed that. Were they at Candy Cane City?

I see police cars circling around parks and schools sometimes. They just park on the side and watch. I just assume they are watching, waiting to stop people from gathering.

I know the city of Rockville removes all tennis nets and basketball rims at all of their parks. They tried hoping just families would use them, but it wasn’t the case. Tennis is not allowed in the county, so it is not allowed at the schools. Call the non emergent police hotline and report them please.

I hear your point that people can maintain 6 feet apart on a tennis court, but why has the County then required that all of its courts be closed? It makes no sense that the Dept of Rec tennis courts would be required to close and the MCPS tennis courts would be allowed to stay open. And when I said the courts were packed, I mean all are in use, at two separate middle schools, each time I walk by.

How are they “packed”? Our neighborhood courts are open and people play singles or families play doubles. It works fine and within all CDC guidelines.

All mcps employees are still being paid to my knowledge. Couldn’t someone in the custodial staff be given the job of locking up the tennis courts, or removing the nets?

Does anyone know if the MCPS tennis courts are officially open? There are 2 MCPS middle schools near my house and the courts at both are packed each day. This makes no sense to me if the MoCo tennis courts and the schools themselves and their playground equipments are closed.
