clubs are keeping our money and want us to pay more for zoom fall soccer.

wouldn't pay a dime until next year when practices can begin.

No matter how unlikely you think there will be no games, Leagues are still planning to to have some games in June.

What are the different clubs doing?

Also, many clubs seem to be offering spots to players for next fall in the coming days/weeks. Will they make people financially commit despite not knowing if there will be soccer in the fall?

Who is in the loop with all of this?

No get over it.

Most clubs put these fees in a fund, under the control of the team treasurer, which actually belongs to the parents. And they must refund whatever does not get spent because it legally remains your money, not theirs. I cannot say that this is definitely the case for all clubs though.

I hope most clubs aren't using team accounts. That's asking for trouble and against IRS guidelines. Most clubs have a CLUB treasurer, sure, big clubs have their own CPAs that either help run, or actually run their finances. As someone who's been on several club boards this will probably be tricky for most clubs. There are certainly sunk costs regardless of whether a season is played or not - that being said, nothing will or really should be officially set until we figure out what is happening with the Spring season (league by league basis).
