mclean will survive as long as enough nervous B players ante up Fall deposits to join a roster of 30 with my A player on the new "ECNL Team." nevermind that we won't play anytime soon and the B players all get cut eventually. mclean families always pay.

Clubs who actually own real estate will face some fiscal challenges, depending on how much they had in the kitty to start with.

I'd be surprise to see clubs shut down over this, however depending on how they handled staff, you may see a lot of movement there.

Tryouts are going to be interesting - to say the least. I'm pretty sure those won't be held at the usual time...

CYA is a huge multisport youth association. They will survive, no issues. It will be the for profit organizations that will suffer.

The overhead on the Fieldhouse is no joke. It's not like any youth sports are going on, so I'm not sure what being a multi sport club will do for them. Plus, I think it's pretty common knowledge that soccer is the sport that keeps the rest afloat at most of these multi sport clubs.

I don't think they're the only one in trouble either: SYA has their private field, Loudoun has their park, FCV with the St James. But I think in even more danger are the smaller clubs that probably were getting by on a season by season basis. FPYC, Gunston, Team America, etc. As mentioned by a PP, some of these clubs are going to have to think hard about merging, reducing staff, and doing a lot of reorganizing.

I agree with this. But if there is no fall soccer then the list of failing clubs could be surprising. From big to little clubs.

A huge club like Loudoun has huge overhead compared to other clubs. They may not fail but their ability to field the number of teams may be greatly diminished. For them it would matter at how long it would take them to build the number of teams back up to pre lock down numbers.

Some small clubs will certainly vanish but other well run and already lean clubs may do much better than expected.

At the end of the day ANY club no matter the size that has been mismanaged will be exposed and could fail.

This is probably the better question - what will be the demand to play?

Any clubs who rely on tournaments and lost out on those are in a bad spot. I also assume clubs in Maryland will probably have to refund for the HS age groups. Most those kids didn't get to play at all. And anyone with private facilities or fields is going to take a hit, but they should be fine as most of those are huge clubs. Maybe a CYA with their new facility could be in trouble, but Loudoun should be fine. Whatever happens, you're gonna see a lot of unemployed coaches really soon.

So big clubs with a large rec program are the most likely to survive. This area Arlington, Loudoun, and Stoddert. After that it will depend on how long play is suspended and revenue streams. Who knows what clubs will go under. A few big name clubs will not make it. It always happens when there is a down turn and this will be a bad one.
