Yes, i'd be interested in what fraction of costs are field rentals, which I presume they didn't pay.

That combined with PPP makes me wonder if we are effectively paying coaches salaries through the summer and fall...

FWIW my kid’s rowing program ($700 paid Feb 27) is offering to convert $450 to a donation, or credit us $450 towards next fall’s registration. No money back at all.

What difference does that make?

If they applied for PPP then it covers salaries and other costs. If that’s happened then no need to ask parents to keep paying to cover coaches’ salaries.

I heard some clubs like Bethesda got PPP funding and still kept their staff furloughed and reduced.

I was getting ready to say you have to use 75% to repay staff or pay that loan back. But then i realized, it probably doesn't say "which" staff.

Many people have not officially canceled because they are hoping for summer play. Ppa officially canceled so they had to make a final decision.

There is a recent ASA thread that said something about partial or no refund unless requested. I think the ppa policy is a little unfair. I would probably have preferred at least 50% back. I don't consider the summer and fall credit for us worth while. We've already paid for summer camp elsewhere and were never planning to do fall soccer with them. I understand they are trying to pay their coaches through the spring but some of us are not getting paid also. And even if i don't apply, the way they worded the "Covid Financial Relief Program." Is embarrassing. How do you create a program out of other peoples money, meant for other purposes, and then divide it up amongst other people, all while making us "apply" for our own money while sounding like your company is giving noble "relief" Not a straight forward situation but that was a ball drop.

It is not a 501c3
I plan to ask for the credit to be transferred to my other child, who is in the premier program (and we’ll pay for anyway).

This seems very reasonable and fair to me. If PPA is a 501(c)(3), ask for a donation receipt for anything not refunded or credited.

Only 50% and that assumes a person wants to do it in the summer if it even happens then. These companies should be giving bigger refunds. The small business package will pay 2 months salary for their employees which is pretty much all spring season. Plus no way they have field permit costs from county as fields are closed.

A potential 75% credit/refund is great.

Curious what other soccer programs are offering as refunds. PPA seems to be giving a very unfair refund policy for a $400 a season program!! Is this on par with other programs? Other sports have given us 100% back. PPA is only offering 25% cash back as best offer...

It has been a tough decision to figure out how much we can offer. We have incurred a significant proportion of the costs that go into a season, even though we have not been able to play. We have made it a priority to pay all of our coaches through the entire season. We have also made it a priority to support PPA families who have been most devastated by the pandemic first. So here is what we have come up with:
The first option is to contribute your registration fee towards PPA and forego a refund this season. We recognize that this is a big ask, but these contributions will go directly to our efforts in supporting other families in need, supporting our coaches who rely on their PPA wages, and supporting the long term sustainability of our club. If you choose this option, you do not need to do anything, but if you would like, send us an email letting us know, so we can respond with an email in kind with our sincerest appreciation.
The second option is a 25% cash refund, a 25% credit towards Summer programming, and a 25% credit towards Fall programming. This is our best attempt at a compromise between what we can afford and what we think is right by you for missing the season. If you would like to choose this option, please click here. We are asking that you let us know if this is your choice by May 3rd. We will begin processing these requests on May 4th.
The last option is to apply for a larger refund through our Covid Financial Relief Program. We announced this program in our last update as a means to offer our support to families that were most seriously impacted. If you would like to apply for further compensation, please apply through our Covid Financial Relief Program, and we will try to work with as many applicants as we can.
