Looking for a neighborhood with community center, pool and good for kids (we have two kids 5 and 9) and love the style of homes. The elementary and middle school are fantastic (9/10s) but the rankings for Reservoir High School (Reservoir) are concerning. Atholton and River Hill are ranked much higher as are many other schools in HOCO and even MOCO. We drove around on Saturday and saw tons of families with young kids playing outside, but I can't get over the fact that these families are ok with sending their kids to a #30 school with a College Readiness Index of 43.4/100. Just don't want to look back and say we had a chance to send our kids to a great top 5 school and didn't. Also know that once the Maple Lawn kids grow up, they can really improve the ranking for Reservoir. Another factor, isn't it better to be bright and stand out in a okayish school rather than be just another name/number in a top 5 school where everyone is 4.7 GPA, Varsity, etc. Any insights?

Ignore the school rankings, OP. They say nothing about how well your individual child will do in school. Really. Nothing.

This. I went to Atholton. River Hill is just fine. Lots of nice kids.
