CDC data. 60% of people age 40-49 have it, it's about 75% of people age 50 and up.

Probably 60% have been exposed but not all people show symptoms. Very few people ever get tested; the blood test is not super accurate so unless there’s an outbreak and a cold sore can be swabbed most drs don’t bother with it.

+1 maybe 60% have been tested during an outbreak or has it documented. The rest of us just buy some Abreva at the drugstore and go on with our lives.
