I am doing what I need to do. My kid is playing video games 14 hours a day. And then is a COMPLETE jerk whenever he graces me with his presence. I hate this. I hate raising this kid. I hate dealing with the nonexistent medical services (no diagnosis means that when he gets violent we now just call 911 and go to the hospital). I need him to go back to school.
When my son was a tween and young teen, he was unusually grumpy the rare times we allowed him to play video games for long periods of time. Unusually in the sense that he's never grumpy otherwise! He can watch movies or videos, or work on screens all day, and it's fine. This grumpiness if specific to gaming. Now he's not allowed to game all day.
If you can, try no video games at all as a reset, then setting a limit to an hour in the morning, an hour in the evening, or whatever you think is feasible. He might be in a much better mood.
