I don't spend as much on my boys as my daughter because 1) they don't care, she definitely does 2) the athletic apparel is high quality like Under Armour and lasts a long time, 3) the youngest son gets hand me downs and I don't have a daughter to provide hand me downs to and 4) she has more variety in her clothes than they do (athletic wear, school uniforms, casual clothes that still look nice, dresses and the assorted shoes).

How old are your kids? My DD is 8 and has no idea how much I spend on her clothes. I buy a lot of Boden on BST pages on fb.

The shirts are $20-30, so are shorts. Hoodies are $40-60. And they don't really go on sale.

If your boys have enough shorts and shirts to last a week plus a couple of hoodies, they have at least $400 worth of clothes. You're fine You aren't spending a lot more than your husband is.

OP here. Thanks for this response. Yeah it all evens out. We spend more on our sons' sports (private tennis and fencing lessons) than on hers currently (dance). They have iphones and ipads and she doesn't yet because she doesn't want or need them yet.

Same here. I have two boys and one daughter and I love buying stylish clothes for all of them. I shop at Zara and H&M for my boys. They sell tons of cool stuff.

The previous poster is dead on. Another one of five. Why waste money on your sons clothes when they don't care?

Unless this is an everything pattern - she gets an expensive phone and they get nothing because she is your only daughter, she gets a new car and they get nothing because she is your only daughter, you are ok. I am one of five. They for sure spent more on my sister’s clothes but I did not care about fashion and I had an expensive hobby (elite travel soccer) and she didn’t play anything. So they were for sure spending more money on me there than her.

It would be extremely silly to spend more money on the boys just to make it "fair."

then your son's, do you feel bad about it?? We have 3 kids, 2 boys and 1 girl. The boys don't care what they wear as long as it is athletic apparel and comfortable. I don't care about athletic apparel in the slightest. I buy them a bunch of Under Armour, Nike, Adidas, etc. and that's it.

My DD cares about what she wears but she's still at an age where she's fine with me picking out her clothing. Consequently, I tend to go overboard at places like Tea, Boden, Crew Cuts, Garnet Hill, etc. My defense to myself is that she's my only daughter and my only chance to have fun with girlish clothing like this. I probably spend more on her clothing than my own (in fact, I know I do) just because it's fun for me to pick out and dress her up.

This post brought to you by the fact that I just realized I spent ~ 300 on her spring wardrobe update and nothing on my sons (who honestly don't realize or care).
