I generally run around a 9 minute mile at my best and can sustain that for a 10 miler h. I'm 43 and have no desire to be faster at this point. I did get faster when I lost weight. When I started I was super out of shape and could barely run around a city block. I'm very fit now and could NOT run a 7 minute mile for a full mile. That's 8.6 on the treadmill and I wouldn't fathom sprinting at that speed. Doesn't work for my body. But if it does for you, go for it!
