So you just need a short term sitter. Go on care.com and next door and advertise.

You want a babysitter and not a nanny. Look for college kids and teachers. Be absolutely upfront about the length of the job. Forego agencies - too expensive for a short-term job. Care.com and state exactly what you’re looking for clearly. Pay as much as you can to get someone to stay.

Why does it need to be done "quietly?"

Important question. Are you looking for a real nanny or just a temporary sitter until daycare reopens?

Yes, big difference. If you want a longer-term nanny, i assume you would be looking for someone to stick with you for another 2 years (until Kindergarten).

+2. I can’t give advice unless I know if this is a long term or short term situation. You look for childcare in different places depending on the length of position

NP. Similar situation, but looking for a long term nanny. Not planning to return to daycare when it opens because I also have a newborn on the way. I’d appreciate any advice on where to look for a nanny.

If you pay well, you should be able to find someone decent, especially if your kid is a fairly easy kid. One three year old with minimal driving and parents out of the house and not hovering is a pretty easy nanny job.

Sign up for care.com or ask your friends who have nanny’s if their nanny knows anyone. No shame in it. I am grateful we have had our through this time.

Both DH and I will have to go back into work May 15 unless the order is extended. Daycare is closed. How do I quietly find a nanny in the age of Covid?

There is so much shaming going on. And you also have to be safe. But my 3 yr old can not be left home alone.
