Mclean is an awesome school and they do not dumb down the work to build your child's confidence. The teachers are very smart and they teach to your child's learning style. Grades are earned, not given to make your child happy. They hold each child accountable for their own work. The work at Mclean School is not easy and Mclean School is no different than any other private school in this area. Every child learns different. All private schools in the DC area provides additional tutoring for their kids.

It’s great for the right student. You need to tour and talk to parents about your child’s strengths and needs. There are a lot of extra fees but you don’t mention cost so hopefully that’s not a problem.

Kids from McLean do go to college but often take a little longer or go into programs with support. This is not a negative for the parents there, but it is for the DCUM crowd.

Typical. Useless DCUM snarky response. If you actually have insight, why not help the OP out. If not, why are you wasting your time?

Agree. A lot of people in the DC area are so rude. It’s so tacky.

We left because of the expense. Got us it was unsustainable. We moved to public and DS did fine in that environment with an IEP. And well also getting into college. Be awRe that not only is McLean expend but there are tack on fees everywhere. Be sure to check college placement to college

My kiddo started in late MS and graduated from the US. MS behavior wasn't great - teasing was a problem and MS Head was not effective in dealing with behavior and social issues. The US experience was better than MS - stronger teachers and great US Head who has an excellent track record with academic and social issues - phenomenal educator.

But overall, good experience. My kiddo was not much of an athlete or performer so not as many activities available - sports and theater are the two biggest social outlets. My kiddo found academic success and challenges and made a successful transition to college. Good experience for my student.

Hey all, I’ve heard great things about the McLean School for my DC with dyslexia, but also that they sometimes make the work too easy to boost the kids’ confidence/dumb down the work. Any opinions about the school? It’s one of the options we are considering. Thanks
