When your child has a child, you become a grandparent. It’s that simple. You’re a grandmother.
Look on the bright side, the baby won’t be able to talk or call you anything for at least another year and a half. That should be plenty of time to get used to the idea.
What is different about a parent having to call his/her own mother "grandmother" vs something like Nana? No parent is ever going to say to their child: Go sit next to my mom. She'll say, Go sit next to Grandma/Nana/Whatever. So why in the world does the name matter? You are showing that you simply don't like what you perceive to be "ridiculous" names.
