I'm curious too. My principal said this afternoon that they haven't been given any information on that yet.

I agree that would make the most sense. But it isn't happening. Teachers are writing third quarter report cards on Friday. And nobody knows if we will also be writing fourth quarter grades five weeks later.

DCPS teacher- No, there has been absolutely no information about what 4th advisory grades will look like. Grades for 3rd quarter are so dramatically inflated it's crazy. At this point I don't really care (I do a little) what the answer is. I just want an answer so that I can clearly communicate to kids and families. I've written lessons for the next few weeks, but I don't know if I can roll them out without this information.

For high school credit classes, are their averages being calculated out of 3 advisories instead of 4 for the year?

Weird, it’s almost like there is a pandemic going on and everything has been thrown into chaos.

Pretty much all the surrounding districts are doing pass/fail for 4th quarter (no letter grades just a pass if any work is done and an incomplete if none is done)---PG county, Fairfax, Loudon, Arlington, etc. MCPS is likely not grading either 3rd or 4th quarter (school board is finalizing this).

+1

I would assume no finals, and no fourth quarter grades. Everything has been extra credit for distance learning so 4th quarter grades would make no sense. Maybe they will give the option like other districts where you could choose credit if it improved your grade (however that would work) or opt out. I hope they just say no grades fourth advisory to spare us all the complications. Call it a day on grading this year!

I was told by my dcps admin yesterday that we will receive no guidance about 4th quarter grades until May 15. 4th advisory now runs from May 1-May 29. Can some parents make a stink about this? Teachers won’t even know for 1/2 of the advisory if kids are bring graded at all, as pass/fail, or as 100 or R. I find this absolutely absurd.
