Raleigh is a very nice area for families. Private school in Raleigh proper or North Raleigh is better than public.
Apex and Cary lots of families. I like Apex slightly better.

Get a generator if moving there. Power goes out a ton.
Chapel hill has better schools.
Lived there for 8 years. One child graduate of North Carolina State.
Pollen allergies are way worse there.
