High school kids. Doing very well.

At a Spanish immersion charter and going great, Daily curriculum all in Spanish and DC is engaged in active learning everyday.

This is about right. 60 minutes (maximum 90 minutes) of the two core content areas is enough. Anything else is a bonus. DD loves her daily art class. Both DS and DD like Gonoodle for exercise.

my 9th grader is doing fine. not too worried about not covering enough, although i am not sure what the shorter school year means. compared to alot of other districts dc has not done a bad job on this.

I’ve got a PK4 and a 3rd grader. Older one is fine- math tutoring, writing tutor, and lessons I plan. The 4 year old....it’s a nightmare. He can’t read, so if I want him to do something not related to playing some educational game on a tablet, I need to direct it while I work full time and my husband goes to his office as an essential worker. I’m getting up before dawn and working late into the evening so I can manage kids and still get paid.

Nothing is being learned but my kid is only in K. I’m hoping that it’s still ok if she just plays all day.

focused and organized kid in 5th grade - doing very well, two video calls a day with the two teachers, work in small groups or alone otherwise. end up spending most of the day in front of a screen but this is remote learning

kid with ADHD in 9th grade - finally all the various video calls are in place (first two weeks missed most of them because code was missing, time was wrong, I forgot and so on), work is kind of done but we need to constantly check because with work done at the computer, kid ends up on video games, or distracted by chats with friends and so on, exhausting for parents.

for us, it really depends a lot on the kids. I am really sorry for kids with significant learning disabilities or issues school was addressing with IEP, counselors and extra help, it must be extra difficult for them

100% same. Given up on specials - the stress of juggling the technology and the assignments isn't worth it.

I feel like we have finally found our rhythm and the kids may actually be learning something now. I still think Teams is really aimed at older kids and doesn't work that well for my two upper-elementary kids, but at least now we have a pattern and generally know what to expect.
