Not a fed, but we need a well-performing fed in times of crisis. You think it's a good idea to cut the pay of your critical team? I'm not so sure.

We're already underpaid in an expensive area. We work like crazy.

Sounds like you're just anti-feds. We're not equivalent to Congress, you know. Sometimes I think people project their hatred of Congress onto the federal workforce as a whole.

They are already underpaid in an expensive city like DC and they have traded that with the job security a few years ago. Not happening.

Good point.

At least in the DC area, many feds already take a pay cut by working for the gov't instead of the private sector.

And, in the private sector, the parallel jobs aren't taking pay cuts. I mean if you lose your job, yes but if you're still working - still getting same paycheck.

Not sure of the logic of the post?

If money is what you’re really after, far more would be saved if you rescind that ridiculous tax break in the stimulus bill.

You would be shooting small businesses in the foot long term if you reduce everyone's income.

He doesn’t even know about the tax change that allows millionaires to deduct unlimited sums of non business expenses.

Because he is too busy worrying about feds that make 100k.

Either that or he is still a firm believer in “trick down economics.” Stick your tongue out, maybe you’ll get a single raindrop next year.

The amount of money you would save would be negligible compared to the stimulus.

The biggest risk right now is deflation, which wage cuts would encourage.

I am an economist but not a Fed, I can tell you wage cuts for government workers right now would be a very bad policy and would exacerbate the recession.

I work for a federal public health agency. This is not the time to cut our salaries. People are working around the clock.

I’m a fed, and I would be fine with a paycut if economic necessity required it (rather than just to prove a point), but I think it’s unlikely given civil service protections.

Im not taking a paycut.

I work for local government and am an essential employee. I have been told no raise or COLA, but I am not losing money either.

You mean the pay cut we all took to work for the federal government, every paycheck?

-A fed who didn't qualify for the stimulus

Given the Dems reliance on Federal sector unions, there is not a chance of them agreeing to that.
