OP name the school. That's the only way these, sometimes, systemic issues get fixed.

I'm a ERHS parent. We received the form letter announcing the need to close on March 12, then tons of robocalls about needing to stay closed, to ask your student about getting onto google classroom for each class, to get a free food, free chromebook, etc. Last week I received emails from teachers about getting ready for online classes (because I gave them my email address at back to school night). There's also a ERHS PTSA google group so there are messages there.

I got a series of robocalls from the CEO, and from the school as well. A few teachers reached out. ERHS.

At the bare minimum, you should've gotten a generic robocall from your principal. Mine is clearly bored at home and has been sending robocalls and email blasts every day. This week, we were told to submit names of any students who have been disruptive in the online lessons, so that the administration could call the parents.

I haven't emailed any parents directly, because that information already came from the principal. We're proceeding as usual where we only contact parents if there's a concern.

I got emails from most teachers because I went to back to school night and got on their lists.

But my kids are managing their own schedules and classes.

Parent of student in 11th. One teacher sent us an email she sent to kids with highlights of status and where to get more info. Very helpful.

I have gotten the general PGCPS robocalls and updates from Dr. Goldson.

But, I have had ZERO contact from my child's high school. Not one message. Not "We're shutting down for a while," not "How are you doing?" and not "Here's how Distance Learning will work." Literally nothing.

My 9th grader has gotten emails and had assignments posted in Google Classroom. I feel like I should be getting direct information from the school, not having to nag my teen to explain what's going on.

FWIW, I am usually laissez-faire about school. If he's passing, I trust him to decide how much to tell me about school. This is a whole different situation, though!

Am I expecting too much, or are other high schools actually providing information to parents?
