Is VDA going to be able to keep kids by joining Boys ECNL? Aren't players from outside that local area going to leave for something else, anything else?

Perfectly said, as father of rich white kid. ECNL is where you go when you finally realize your son may not be tough enough or talented enough to play DCU or Bethesda, but is wealthy enough to make a Jetset team. Of course, when that day comes my kid will find something else to do. Maybe rich but not stupid and completely indifferent to the status. Fly for math and science competitions, sure, but for soccer, come on.

Bethesda's EDP's furthest game was Philly, which looks like a short hop compared to some of the ECNL travel (which is likely by plane).

As you are probably aware, rumors have been circulating regarding the demise of the Development Academy. US Soccer’s potential decision was brought to our attention early last week. Since then, we have worked diligently with leaders across the country, representing DA clubs, non-DA clubs and national leagues to establish how we move forward from this decision.



We are pleased to announce that we will be joining the Boys ECNL Mid-Atlantic Conference that will include DA clubs VDA, NCFC, NC Fusion, Charlotte Academy, and Charlotte Independence. An official ECNL announcement will be released later this afternoon and we will forward that to you as well.



Richmond United will continue to operate as in past seasons and is fully committed to offering the most comprehensive and successful player development environment in our region. We will provide more information in the coming weeks.
