The developers aren’t subsidizing anyone. The homeowners are doing that. That cost of subsidizing low income housing gets passed 100% to the people who purchase the condos.
Oh, please. Regulatory burdens and litigation on developers are much less than in Washington than in other American cities. Indeed, the reason for much of the cases filed involving DC development projects stem from the failure of DC regulators to follow the processes set down in the law. Instead, DC authorities, who are known for their coziness with the development sector, frequently reach poorly supported decisions based on a flimsy record.
