My son is using a hair clip from his sisters. He's looking forward to his man-bun stage. His sisters are looking forward to french braiding the front of his hair.

He's like an 8 yr old metro-sexual.

Actually, it is pretty nice and not at all difficult.

Any video recs?

I gave my DH and 2 boys hair cuts last week and they look fine, but think some good techniques would help.

I trimmed a bit off the front of my DS's hair last night. It was almost in his eyes and no ability to get a haircut from his barber in sight. He has really tough hair to cut. It looks really simple because it's straight but it isn't. I regret doing it. It looks bad. I should have just waited it out.

All the males in our household got buzz cuts yesterday.

I use scissors and a comb. Look up "scissor cutting" on youtube and you can learn how to do it. We use screen time so my kids love getting their hair cut. I generally start in the back and do the front last because they get impatient when they actually realize what's going on.

Let it grow longer.

I cut DS’s hair myself. It has some wave and I like it longish on top.

Lollipop, TV.

I clip the top section off out of the way in an alligator clip.
Then #8 all over, #6 for bottom half, blending up, #4 for bottom 1/3, blending up. Ear guards on both sides. Then clean up edges without guard. Then I unclip the top, mist, and trim it like a mohawk. Then I lay it how I normally would and get any strays.

Watch a ton of YouTube videos first!

There's a huge number of video tutorials. Get yourself a set of clippers. Start practicing when the kid is three, and a few more cuts later you'll be able to give him a decent haircut. The savings -- in time, money, and whining -- are very large.

I buzzed off both of my son's hair with a #2 clip. I'm hoping by the time they need a haircut again, this will be over and their barber is open again.

Just push it to the side or brave it yourself.

DS’s (age 3) hair is wonderfully ridiculous right now, but I think it’s going to start getting in his eyes soon. He barely puts up with getting his hair cut by a professional, so I doubt he will let us do it. I’m mostly worried about starting with a shaver and having him only let us do a section. What are other parents’ plans for this?
