We are already in private preschool and will be staying.

Our school has not said anything, other than that they will be sending out contracts soon. I am hoping they will share plans next month. We have already paid for instruction that was not provided this year and are not eager to do so again next year. We are also concerned about how they will handle things while they are open. Will there be fewer students in each class, will they take the temperatures of students each day, will they place greater limits on parents coming and going in and out of the school, etc.

I think many people are rethinking this. When parents were dropping off kids at school then heading to their full time job in an office, obviously they needed their kids to be in school. For at least the next year, for many office workers that dynamic will be changed. I think considering having kids under 5 at home with maybe a shared nanny, would limit the exposure and allow me some flexibility if and when this virus flares up again. If I was stuck with a school contract I’d be annoyed about paying for online learning for a preschooler.

NP here also wondering what to do next year. Our son is supposed to start in pre-k 3 (private, we didn’t get into any local schools in the lottery). Aside from the risk of catching Covid and the possibility of paying for a closed school during a second wave, I’m also concerned about getting him settled into his first ever school experience only to have school closed soon after he starts. I do wonder if some of the smaller preschools will go under too. Really not sure what to do but I guess we have a few months to see how things pan out.

PP above, and the reason why is we think there will be a second wave, and the last thing we want is the preschooler to bring cold or flu home on top of covid.

I negotiated a reduced rate with the director and paid it for April even though I had a year long contract. Pulled DD out for next year, homeschool preK not looking forward to it.

+1. At our school, once you commit to tuition you’re committed for the year. Assuming schools do not go back this year, we are out 2.5 months of full tuition for essentially nothing. We pulled out for next year.

We were planning to start my 2.5 year old in a full time program in the fall. I’m due with another baby in the fall so my concern is more about having a toddler potentially expose a newborn if there’s a second wave in the fall/winter. Might just do a nanny for both kids instead and wait until the following year for preschool.

We have a very young 3 planning to start in the fall. Tuition is due in July. We're not sure what we'll do at this point and plan to wait until June to really start talking about it.

Curious to hear people's thoughts/opinions, understanding that none of us really know what will happen.
