You probably never thought you would or have a career that makes NYC more necessary.

Hahaha! Thanks for the laugh. Good luck with that. Also, neither of those neighborhoods are known for their lofts. Try SoHo or TriBeCa.

I live in NYC, have no plans to move, but I know LOTS of people who are planning to move out just as soon as they can. NYC life can be a real grind, and many people are just tired of it. COVID is the impetus they need to actually put their moving plans into action.

We have only lived in NYC for a few months before the stay-at-home routine began. We are keeping the very real possibility of having to do that again as we approach of the end of our lease and are starting to talk about a move to the suburbs. We moved from Virginia to Manhattan for DH job, and decided to live in the city to have the full NYC experience. But, none of that has panned out, so it's not really worth it to pay the premium for 'downtown' living. We'd rather have more living space since we're actually *in* it these days.

There is a very real possibility that vaccines will only partially work, in which case cities like NYC will be highly undesirable.

Same. Grew up there and still the best white collar job market.

+1. Grew up there and 90% of my job market is there. I've been actively avoiding it as I would prefer to live in DC, but it feels inevitable. Covid has 0% impact on that.

A city big is bound to have casualties in a pandemic. So many people in one place. I wouldn’t hold it against my future plans

What is the future of the NYC? Will many move out? Will all go as usually?...

If you were living in NYC would you move out of the area entirely and never look back?

If you were thinking about moving to NYC prior to Covid, would you go back to your plans once this is over?
