My husband's parents believed this, several times actually, about increasingly harder drugs, until he asked to go to rehab at age 19.

It sounds ridiculous when you are not in the situation. When you are in the situation it's part of the process of denial. You have no idea how hard it is to face the notion that your child has a drug problem.

Parents who believe that are my favorite!

OP here.

I’m parent who was told from another parent that she found my son’s weed. When I told her she was mistaken, she implied my son was the one lying. I’m not saying he’s an innocent angel, but the weed in question is not his. The friend gave my son a heads up via text.

If this parent is dumb enough to believe their kid, what can you do. For me the silver lining would be that I know my kid has at least one friend who smokes weed and that I need to do a room search and be extra vigilant.

Lol so true.

We still joke about my mom’s friend’s son who was holding a cigarette for someone else.

Idk, a roommate I didn’t know well once left a little baggie of coke in a purse she borrowed without telling me. I pulled it out accidentally at dinner with my parents, I think I was 25. They totally believed me that it wasn’t mine which was honestly a little offensive.

Ha! My parents didn't believe this one, and there were no texts in those days as proof.

I can’t believe I have to tell parents this, but if your teen blames the weed or vape pen you find on “holding it for a friend”, he/she is lying. I have text messages to prove it.
