Most overrated for me is Aspen. Great skiing, but too expensive and too high falutin' for me. Favorite close to home skiing is Canann Valley. The last two winters have been pretty rough, but in the past pre-global warming, Canaan would usually get dumped on- nearly 200" of natural snow, cold enough to make plenty more, and the best part, only a three hour drive away.
Big Sky is great and if you like Winter Park, you will likely like skiing Big Sky. The lifts are fancy (heated seats, covered chairs etc) but the scene isn't that fancy and the skiing's itself is great. The town isn't that great but you can do day trips to Yellowstone, which sounds awesome.
