If the breakup was your idea, and you did not know he was married, this was him saying "see I am attractive even though you dumped me, so there".

I email twice a year with an ex on our respective birthdays. We’re both married and have kids but one upon a time we were the most important things in each other’s lives and that doesn’t disappear entirely when a relationship ends. I’ve been meaning to reach out to him to check in. Why? Because it’s a pandemic and people are getting sick and dying and it makes you reflect on who is important to you. That doesn’t mean I’m about to leave my husband for my ex. It means I still care about him even if we don’t work as a couple.

If he were single, I MIGHT understand why he was reaching out, for some of the reasons people have already identified - he's reflecting on life, thinking about you, etc.

But since he's now married I'd say he is a massive a-hole. Don't waste a second of your time on him not even a "congrats" text. You are asking for trouble if you do.

I don't think its always that people are bored I think its because when you're facing a crisis of this proportion you think back on who has been important in your life one way or another and you reach out to find out they are ok because you realize this.

But yes I don't think OP in this case he needs any reply from you. That was a very fast turn-around and recent.

I don't know what the circumstances of your breakup were, but if they weren't really terrible, I'd just respond, "congrats." If he tries to continue texting beyond that, I'd ignore.

Lol. My ex has been in touch too. We broke up 13 YEARS ago and I’ve been married for 10. Quarantine Is doing funny things to a lot of ppl.

If you're feeling generous, reply congrats and that's it. But no pressure. It's fine to just delete and block too

OP here. Wow, the lockdown really messed some people mind up. I won't reply, I don't see anything good coming out from the interaction.

I've heard from 4 exes in the past 3 week. Waiting for #5. It's because they're bored and reaching. Best case scenario he has fond memories of you. Reply politely and then not again. I made the mistake of engaging and things quickly progressed from "hope you're well" to "you up?"

I received a text today from ex bf, saying he just thought about me, and hope I'm doing OK during this pandemic. He got married at the end of last year.

It felt really weird he would tell me about his relationship. We broke up last August, which means he got married in no more than 4 months, lol.

The breakup was amicable even though I thought he was an a**hole, so I won't reply. Just don't get why he would tell me about the sudden marriage, which only made me thinking he cheated on me back then.
