What are the consequences? If you kid is good, there will not be consequences. If he is penalized for not participating, BSC is just taking you for a ride anyway.Move him to a SAM Select or MSI Classic team, play local, and save some money and time.

They’re charging the same for this as the full season and some of you think that’s ok!?! Yikes.

Agree with OP. It looks like a lot for the one app and then a second app and watching a game and a call. Let's be real - my kid is not going to start doing different types of planks for strength.

My kid loves soccer but doesn't want to play it by himself. He's in elementary school.

I just looked at it and felt overwhelmed at something else to manage.

Im sure there is another thread around here with people bitching about how they havent heard a peep from their coaches. oh yeah, there is. Ive read it.

Sorry, but if your older child doesnt give a shit about it, or doesnt have the discipline to keep up with it, then thats on them.
For those on the top teams, the players are doing it and theyre enjoying it and they want to pick up where they left off with a feeling of accomplishing something during this off time.

I think you are missing the point. There is an age range for where this level of intensity (as children and harried parents get used to the new normal) is appropriate and an age range for where the push is just one step too far given everything going on.

If your kid is DA/ECNL highschooler great.

But leave the rest of us alone to figure out how they dont fall a grade behind while working parents try to homeschool middle school math. OP I am with you.

We have been happy with the BSC outreach. Our child said the more she has things to do the better. It is great to have an athletic outlet. Child is old enough to manage on their own.

DD isn’t in Bethesda but our club also uses that Techne app. I’d really like to know if they purchased that thing instead using the money I paid to our coach. I get it fields are closed, but we have found all of what Techne is on YouTube with some pretty simple searches. I’d prefer a little more individuality or some kind of personal feedback. Then again, why would I see this kind of change?

How old is your kid? Mine recently turned 11 and after some help, can do independently. I think it would be harder to do independently younger than 11. My husband and I are working crazy hours and juggling kids on line. We spent time this weekend with our kid to figure it out. We had to give guidance that sometimes you put full effort, other times it more touches and explore the app (My kid tends to want to do everything perfectly at 100 percent level and can get frustrated). We also are starting small working up to the minimums, but they are naturally getting there.

Our coach has been supportive and parents have felt comfortable sharing with the coach that they are still working it out as juggling workloads/ school and this may be figured out later.

I have seen BSC be a money grab a lot in the past. I think intent is good - though need to make adjustments especially with younger ages. Our team and our coach have been connected during this time and has been a help to my kid. Compared to our other kids' travel sports, this one is more positive. But I can see how it would differ by team and coach.

Don’t sweat it. The Techne App is so mindless it’s going to make your kid bored of soccer.

Why even pay for BSC if your kid doesn't have the passion to train at home. I'd tell my kid, do the work or go back to rec.

Total money grab.

Or both? I get that BSC is not going to give me a refund. I've accepted that. But for God's sake, I have a full time job, so does my husband, and now we (like most of you reading this) are in the unenviable position of having essentially homeschooled children. I'm so stressed out trying to get my work done and get my elementary-school aged children on Zoom and in their virtual classrooms every morning, and keep everyone safe and healthy that I cannot handle overseeing my oldest child's "virtual training" on Techne and HealthyBaller. If he doesn't do it, or fill out his coach's ridiculous Google spreadsheet, too Effing bad because I cannot hold one more responsibility in my head. And my kid is not the type to have enough executive functioning to keep up with the coach's schedule on his own. I have to let soccer go. If he gets kicked off his team or downgraded a team because his parents are too busy WORKING to oversee his virtual training, then whatever...BSC, you might be the straw that broke the camel's back.
