Teachers didn't receive any training during that transitional week. We were forced to go in to the buildings and they told us to figure out a plan ourselves. It was a joke. We worked crazy hours through that week building the whole system and then they came back and told us to work an additional seven days with no additional compensation (what was supposed to be Spring Break). The kids got a few days off, we did not.

I have friends who teach in NYC. Basically, kids got a week off for spring vacation and during that week teachers received training on how to teach via the internet. 3 days of training were at the teachers' assigned schools.

Schools were up and running online the following week.

My niece and nephew go to public school in NYC. They closed at the same time that we did and were up and running with distance learning one week later. MS kid apparently has Zoom classes from 9am to 1pm every day, HS kid has assignments and some taped lectures. I don't know if that's just the way their schools are doing things or if there is some consistency in the curriculum. NYC distributed 300k laptops so that every child has one, also free internet access.
