I think we’ll Zoom with family too. My kid’s turning 10, but doesn’t seem to be particularly invested in turning double digits before all this happened so it will be ok to be low key.

We just did a Zoom call for my niece's birthday. In addition to the birthday family having made a cake, the rest of us had each made our own cakes at our houses so that we could all have a slice of birthday cake together. We also played some games like Pictionary using Zoom's shared white board.

I have a month until DD’s birthday. I am hoping we can get together with my brother’s family. Four of us, four of them and all have been working from home and no school. Both Of us agree it would be great but it will be a game time decision.

We'll bake a cake. I like the special breakfast idea. DD (6) is taking it well so far, maybe because she's aware several friends' parties were cancelled. She suggested a party in the summer for all the kids whose parties were cancelled and if things reopen we'll host that.

As long as the wishers are only from 1 family it is c really no different then bring out for a walk with a stop .

We always let the kids choose the cake they wanted, and they almost always choose to decorate themselves with an assortment of candy sprinkles, colored sugars, gel food coloring to write/draw with, etc. A few years there were so many sprinkles on top that it was crunchy. We'd take a picture so they could remember their masterpiece.

Depending on how much time, effort, and mess you're willing to devote, she could make a piñata and then have a fiesta themed party. My kids always loved tacos and fajitas. Whenever we had either one they were excited. You could do one for lunch and take-out for supper.

Depending on what she picks for supper you might make it a theme to draw ideas from.

Let her pick movies/games/activities. Make her Queen for a Day (she could even have a crown - even a paper crown would work).

This is our plan too, a birthday rain check for when this is over. We will do our best to do a nice meal though.

On the day of though, we will make fancy pancakes for breakfast, give them the birthday plate, and make whatever they want for dinner that we have.

Same situation here, my son is turning 5 next week. I'm decorating like we're having a party, will let him pick meals (within reason), will pick up balloons from the grocery store, have a cake, open presents and answer calls from family. Other than basically letting him do whatever he wants that day....not sure what else I can do!

We are setting up a zoom with a few of her close friends. Relatives sent some gifts through the mail. We'll have a small cake.

Title says it all. My child will be having a birthday (turning 8) this month. Ideas to make is special? I’m already thinking of picking up takeout for dinner from a place she picks (which will be a treat, we never do this), making a special cake and having a Zoom conference with relatives while she blows out the candles and opens presents. Any other creative ideas?
