Vet here - you absolutely needed to take him - glad you did The DHPP vaccine needs to be given every 2-4 weeks until at least 15-16 weeks old to prevent a potentially fatal viral illness called parvovirus. Good job!!

Yes, my vet has procedures in place to limit contact. You call when you arrive, and they come out to get the pet. The vet called me to get background, then called again with an update post exam, and a final call after treatment. The front desk called for payment info. All this while I sat in my car. Finally the tech brough the cat back and put her in the car. All worked well and no contact beyond the tech touching th car door and carrier. I could see her Purel after.

Glad to hear it went well OP. My DD is a vet tech and they are being extremely careful and taking the same precautions.

Our vet is spacing out appointments so there’s only one pet at a time and doing drop offs only. You wait in the car or come back when they ask you to. The vet speaks to you over the phone and you pay over the phone.

I would do it. Shots can be done quickly by a tech and with soooo many dogs out on walks right now you want him vaccinated.

My puppy is 15 weeks and is supposed to be receiving his last fecal test / deworming meds ,DAPP, Leptospirosis vaccine and his first rabies vaccine. Plus picking up his heartworm medication. They called to reschedule his appointment twice the past few days because of limited hours due to Covid-19. Then they realized they overbooked so called to make it 15 mins later yesterday. It is supposed to be tomorrow morning and I just received the email talking about their protocol of calling when we get there ,taking the dog back by himself and no bringing in kids ,etc.
At the end of the email however , there is a little message saying if you have no pressing concerns then to reschedule your appointment for “a few weeks from now when everything calms down.” I know they probably send the same email to everyone who has an appointment but would you consider this pressing or reschedule? I would like him to be vaccinated and receive his meds but I don’t know why they wouldn’t mention this on the phone yesterday if they thought we should reschedule. I also know this won’t calm down in a couple weeks and I don’t know how long we should go without his rabies vaccine.
