Oh man, kindergarten teachers know how to deal with kids with mild cases of adhd. Most of us know how to deal with extreme cases of it. Your kid doesn't need a private school. He's not special.

Some cases are milder than others. It still requires support and a level of understanding so that teachers may be able to accommodate learning differences (e.g. frequent movement breaks, the ability to stand vs sit, etc.) Things that kids who typically are unable to sit still for a long period would otherwise be mislabeled as choosing not to pay attention or being defiant.

Zero medication. He just started behavior therapy. It's not to the level that requires meds.

What medication did you decide to put him on?

He just turned 5 and was evaluated by Kennedy Krieger. We noticed signs very early on but having the assessment just confirmed what we already knew.

I agree. Red flag. Perhaps give your child another year before moving.

I don't currently live in PG but I'm open to move because of the reasonable cost of living. If I were able to find a school with great support and academics for my son we would purchase something near that area. Would you mind sharing the name of the Catholic school?

Believe it or not, our Catholic has been amazing. Which part of PG County are you in? My child had an IEP and that not worthless. Never got any feedback, it was just a mess.
