Thank you, OP. We do have to use the street to socially distance when walking the dog sometimes, and I’ve seen little kids on bikes too.

Same in MoCo suburbs. A crazy cab driver going east drove headlong into us (going west) on a 35 mph road. He crossed over to our side of the lane going around 50mph. I saw death careening towards us but DH was able to basically drive the car up on the curb. Very shaken up.

pedestrians who choose to walk in the street have a responsibility to watch for oncoming traffic...

We live in a neighborhood in Northwest DC, which has its share of cut through traffic on the side streets. Overall traffic has decreased with fewer people going to work, but our neighbors and we have noticed that more of the remaining traffic is speeding and not slowing down for pedestrians. Please exercise restraint and slow down. Children are home from school and go out for exercise, walking and riding their bikes. To keep social distance, adults are stepping into the street in order to pass someone on the sidewalk. Please consider how you would like other drivers to respect your kids’ safety near your home. It’s spring, slow down a little, and avoid injuring someone. It’s a heckuva time for someone to have to go to the hospital.
