NO! It is UP TO $600 more, certainly not the case for a part time sitter. You could offer to pay them half to retain their services, but that may still find new work from someone that can provide them with stable employment.

The new law will add $600/wk on top of whatever the state is paying for unemployment.

No. Unemployment only covers half of regular wages generally. You will lose them if you don’t pay them.

We have 2 regular sitters before and after school. Both are college students. We told both not to come this week and paid both. Not sure how long we can do that as DH is in sales and so will be taking a hit (if not laid off) during this.
With the new package passed by Congress if the sitters file for unemployment will they be fully covered for pay? We have paid UI taxes on them.
