we have done rock creek trails close to the MD line and they were pretty empty. But we go at 10 am when its a couple of dog walkers here and there.
NW branch has been crowded.
Sligo Creek trail is hit or miss depending on where you are
We may drive up to C&O canal at one of the Seneca locks where there are fewer people

Avoid Rock Creek. People are not respecting social distancing, especially the cyclists and runners. It’s insane.

Is the arboretum still open? I think thats generally pretty empty. Or the aquatic gardens?
If you’re up to drive to maryland, there are some nice parks with trails. White marsh park in Bowie, watkins in upper marlboro have trails, and the patuxent research refuge near greenbelt has a lot of space with trails. I think stuff in MoCo tends to be more crowded.

We had good luck by the tennis center on 16th street as well. There are lots of separate areas and easy to keep your distance. Rock creek has lots of trails around the tennis center too.

Is the National Mall an option?

Lower rock creek Park, around Peirce Mill and Blagden, is PACKED.


Also think about wearing a mask, OP, if you can get one (and reuse it) or make one.

Not sure about trails, but there was ample room in the fields at the Rock Creek Tennis Center last weekend. We were able to stay about 50 feet away from others the whole time - just making sure no one is getting into/out of the car next to you when you park in the lot.

PP, going outside does not pose risk to others if you stay 6 feet away, and is absolutely crucial for the mental and physical health of kids, particularly those that live in small houses. Not all of us have yards.

DC closed a lot of parks and fields. The ones that are still open were crowded.

Guidance is that kids and adults can go out for exercise as long as they stay 6 ft from other people.

As long as you go to a place where that is possible, you can take the kids outside, say once a day.

It sounds like OP is being responsible by trying to find outdoor space that is not crowded.
