So if employees can sue daycares over lost wages, can childcare workers also sue over unsafe working conditions when they get sick? At what point does the whole “pandemic” and “act of god” thing come into play and everyone has to deal with what their dealt?

It’s not fair that they treat monthly payers different than people that prepay. Bring it to their attention, let them rectify it, and if they don’t take action. There’s a pandemic, yes. But that’s not an excuse to take advantage of people.

Read your contract. If there's no act of god clause, you're in a good spot to sue. Lawyer up.

It’s all about that mean green

That’s lousy to treat people who paid upfront worse. As a practical matter, bird in hand is powerful and it is hard for them to force others to pay, just as it is hard for you to try to force a refund. But it still seems unfair to treat families so differently.

People can claim anything then. It will be a free for all

They are allowing the monthly payers to basically pay what you can based on circumstances

What you mean modify? Are they giving them like a forbearance where eventually the school will be made whole or are they accepting reduced payments as to the condition of the family’s situation

I have no more payments. I paid the remainder in Jan.

put in 60 day withdrawl notice and get money back

They are telling the month by month people they can modify their payments for April, but not for me because we prepaid

I'm confused by the options you laid out but what about asking for a credit towards your next payment so that it evens out with those paying mont-to-month?

Our preschool closed mid-March for corona virus and has now let parents know they will be closed until 4/28 now.
My daughter goes full time 8a-6p. 12 months.
We paid in semester payments-not month to month.
The parents who pay monthly are being told that for April they can modify or reduce payment but because I prepaid I can’t get any refund.
I’m all for helping teachers but my husband and I are either 1 or both laid off soon.
Other option is that they have a 60 day withdrawal policy, where we then keep paying for April, May and then get some sort of refund.
My daughter is not going back next year.
Can they really hold to a 60 day withdrawal when we’re paying for services not rendered?
I’m not trying to be cheap, just practical.
