What the deuce does this mean?

The virus is forcing us all to stay home and reunite with our families, reexamine our priorities, and find ways to re-connect that truly meaningful (that is turning our backs on division). And the young people have to step and self-isolate in order to sav the old and sick (that is, teaching us selflessness). Is God teaching us a lesson?

No, that's the devil trying to unseat the president and harm people

What are you smoking?

God isn't teaching us a lesson. However, life, with its many peaks and valleys, always affords us an opportunity to find God in the midst of joy, sorrow, happiness, and sadness.

I completely agree with this. Earth is a self correcting system and will be here long after we’ve killed ourselves off.

OP, if God didn't teach us a lesson with the Holocaust, we are unteachable.

Is God strictly striking down the wicked?

No, OP, I don't think we are significant enough that any higher being (if one exists) would be concerned with "teaching us a lesson."

Didn't you ever have pets when you were a child? Or read about illnesses among wild animal populations? Sickness and suffering are part of life.

Koyaanisqatsi -- "a way of life that calls for another way of life." Paraphrasing.

I would love to agree, but that would put me in the same camp as those who thought Hurricane Katrina was God's way of teaching New Orleans a less, or that AIDS was God's way of teaching gays a lesson. I just can't do that.
