Today she saw the next door neighbor through the fences in our back yards and I thought she was going to lose her mind saying hi. We had to pull her away from the fence and take her inside. So sad and there’s nothing we can do about it.

Personally, I take that sadness and I convert it to anger. Anger at our elected officials who have completely dropped the ball and produced a response that would be expected in a third world country, similar to the one my parents came from. My parents did not immigrate and leave everything and everyone that they love for this shit.
And then I take that anger and I convert it to determination to make decisions: decisions on who to vote for and who to support and how to make change so that my children do not have to go through a completely avoidable experience like this ever again.
I think we all need to produce something, something real from what we are feeling right now. We are Americans and we should be more empowered than this.
